LATEST NEWS Choice Waste Management Ltd has been selected as the winner of the Exporter of the Year Award (2005/06). The international award has been presented to Choice Waste Management Ltd by Mr. John Prescott (Deputy Prim minister) at the annual Chinese New Year dinner held at the Guildhall in London on Thursday 19 January 2006. The guests of honour were Mr. John Prescott (Deputy Prim minister), his Excellency Mr Zha Peixin the Chinese Ambassador to the UK and Lord Mayor City of London, David Brewer. There were many more dignatories including, Eddie George former governor of the Bank of England, Mr. Raja Rizwan Iqbal Chairman Choice Waste Management and Mr Stephen Perry, Chairman of the 48 Group Club..
As an accredited exporter of packaging waste Choice Waste Management Ltd has developed close relations with end-users in China who carry out reprocessing. These contacts have been built up in recent years such that the company is now exporting 40,000 tonnes per year of packaging and other plastic waste for recycling and this is expected to grow.
The originator of the award is the 48 Group Club, an organisation dedicated to promoting positive trade relations with the People’s Republic of China. The history of the Club in China goes back to the 1950s and it now has some 300 members including many eminent individuals who have contributed over the years to Sino-British trade relations. These include Lord Howell, Lord Heseltine, ex-Ambassadors from both countries and senior figures from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and China’s Foreign Trade Ministry. Since its conception, this commercial group has grown to be the most respected name in China-Britain trade, a name well known throughout China.
Choice Waste Management Ltd is on the Advisory Committee on Packaging (ACP)
and the sole representative of plastic packaging waste exporters on the
Plastics Task Force and Export Market Task Force.
